In Serbia, tens of thousands of people gathered in the city of Niš to honor the victims of the disaster at the railway station and to express their protest against the corruption that led to the tragedy, reports Reuters, relayed by UNN.

The protests swept across the country four months after the roof collapse at the station in Novi Sad, which resulted in the deaths of 15 individuals. Students have been the driving force behind the demonstrations, blocking educational institutions since December, and were later joined by teachers, farmers, and workers from various sectors.

Outraged citizens believe that the accident was a consequence of systemic corruption, which has intensified during the current president's administration. In response, the authorities assure that they will start tackling corruption schemes and reject accusations of their own involvement.

At the designated time, 11:52, those gathered on the streets of Niš honored the memory of the deceased with a moment of silence. Following this, a procession of students, supported by hundreds of bikers, marched through the city's central streets, calling for reforms.
