Ukrainian rescuers continue to extinguish the fire at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant shelter following an attack by a Russian drone on the night of February 14.
This was reported by the press service of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Mission experts were allowed to access the site of the drone's impact to assess the extent of the damage to the "Shelter" object.
The explosion created a hole approximately six meters in diameter, and some equipment and electrical cables were damaged.
At the same time, the structural support beams did not sustain significant damage, according to the IAEA. They added that the radiation levels at the nuclear station remained unchanged.
However, the International Atomic Energy Agency did not specify which drone struck the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. IAEA Director Rafael Grossi stated that the drone strike on the nuclear facility is a "serious and unacceptable incident."
Recall that the Security Service of Ukraine showed the wreckage of the drone that attacked the Chernobyl NPP. This drone was carrying a dangerous warhead.
Previously, "Telegraph" reported on the amount of damage caused by the looting of the Chernobyl NPP during the occupation.
