Electricity prices may rise: when can we expect this change?

What can Ukrainians expect starting March 1 — what will the electricity rates be?
Цены на электроэнергию могут вырасти: когда стоит ожидать изменений?

Starting from March 1, 2025, Ukraine will maintain the current electricity tariff. According to Cabinet Resolution No. 632, the cost of 1 kWh will be 4.32 UAH. This tariff is set to remain in effect at least until April 30, 2025.

In previous years, there were two significant tariff increases that occurred in June. Discussions regarding this took place in May. Therefore, after April 30, an announcement about another tariff hike is possible. Experts suggest that the tariff could reach 6.68 UAH.

However, the head of the VR Committee on Energy and Utilities, Andriy Gerus, recently stated that there are currently no plans to increase tariffs. Thus, the tariff may be fixed for another year in May — until April 30, 2026.

How to Pay Less for Electricity

For residential consumers, there are ways to save money by using multi-zone meters. The two-zone tariff allows for savings during nighttime consumption. From 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, the cost of 1 kWh will be halved – 2.16 UAH.

The three-zone tariff provides three payment levels depending on the time of day. It is important to note that during peak hours, the prices are higher than the base tariff:

  • Night (11:00 PM – 7:00 AM) – 1.728 UAH per 1 kWh;
  • Off-peak (7:00 AM - 8:00 AM, 11:00 AM - 8:00 PM, 10:00 PM - 11:00 PM) – 4.34 UAH per 1 kWh;
  • Peak (8:00 AM - 11:00 AM, 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM) – 6.48 UAH per 1 kWh.

Previously, "Telegraph" reported that consumers with electric heating will have the cost of electricity calculated differently. The new tariff applies to the first 2000 kWh per month under special conditions.
