In Ukraine, frosty weather with precipitation is expected starting from February 17. This weather will be associated with the dominance of a cold air mass of Arctic origin over our territory and the influence of a high atmospheric pressure area.
According to the forecast by meteorologist Igor Kibalchich, there will be occasional snowfall, but the precipitation is expected to be mostly light. He shared his outlook.
On February 17, light snow is expected at night in the western part of the country, and during the day in the central regions and the Carpathians. No precipitation is anticipated in other areas. Icy conditions will persist on the roads. The wind will be variable, ranging from 3 to 8 m/s. Night temperatures will range from -7 to -12 degrees in the north and east, and in the Carpathians, from -13 to -18 degrees, with some places dropping to -20 degrees. During the day, temperatures will fluctuate between -3 and -8 degrees, while in the south and Transcarpathia, they will range from -2 to +3 degrees.
On February 18, cold weather will prevail across Ukraine, with no significant precipitation. Icy conditions on the roads will continue. The wind will be variable, blowing at 3-8 m/s. Nighttime temperatures will drop to -8 to -13 degrees in the northern and eastern regions, and in the Carpathians, from -14 to -19 degrees, with some areas reaching -21 degrees. Daytime temperatures will be between -2 and -7 degrees, while in the south and Transcarpathia, they will range from -2 to +3 degrees.
On February 19, no precipitation is expected at night, but light snow may occur during the day in the western and some northern regions. Icy conditions will remain on the roads. The wind will be variable, at 3-8 m/s, with a southwest wind in the northern and western regions at 5-10 m/s. Night temperatures will range from -7 to -12 degrees in the north, east, and the Carpathians, dropping to -13 to -19 degrees. During the day, temperatures will warm up to -1 to -6 degrees, while in the south and Transcarpathia, they will range from -3 to +2 degrees.
Previously, Telegraf reported that the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center warns of possible sharp fluctuations in water levels in the rivers of northern Ukraine. This will occur from February 16 to 18 due to the intensification of ice phenomena.
