On Friday evening, a fire broke out in a four-story cottage on Vsevolod Petriv Street in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kiev. Rescuers managed to save 11 people from the building, including a child.
The fire engulfed the first-floor premises, preventing residents on the upper floors from leaving the house on their own. This was reported by the press service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the city of Kiev.
0 1 2The alarm about the fire was received on December 1 at 21:32. A total of 23 rescuers and six fire trucks arrived at the scene. Personal belongings were burning in the first-floor room, and the house quickly filled with smoke.
The rescuers acted swiftly. They rescued the child from the fourth floor using a folding ladder. Two people were lowered down using a fire truck ladder. Another eight residents were evacuated via a regular staircase.
The fire was extinguished in 19 minutes. The flames damaged 10 square meters of the premises. One person suffered burns to their hands and was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
Currently, law enforcement agencies are investigating the cause of the fire and assessing the extent of the material damage.
