The sanctions imposed today by the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) will be lifted for those oligarchs who return the funds withdrawn during the war to the budget. This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky during his visit to the Khmelnytsky Nuclear Power Plant, as reported by "Suspilne".
According to Zelensky, the sanctions introduced today will not be the last. At the same time, these restrictions were implemented due to the withdrawal of billions of hryvnias during the war.
I am simply astonished that financial monitoring previously showed us nothing. I did not see this, and it's hard to say how it was before me. Now, the Security Service and financial monitoring are revealing billions. And all these people, Medvedchuk (Viktor Medvedchuk, — ed.) and Poroshenko (Petro Poroshenko, — ed.) — they are partners in this case, but I do not want to assign blame; that is the role of the courts.
Zelensky stated that he has information about possible money laundering through funds intended to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), and noted that this money was allegedly passed on to members of his party.
He also mentioned that sanctions could be lifted for those who return the withdrawn funds to the budget. Ultimately, these funds will be directed to the needs of the Ukrainian army.
