According to experts from the Institute for the Study of War, Russian authorities are attempting to restrict information regarding the situation in the Kursk region to prevent territorial exchanges during potential peace negotiations. This was reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), as noted by UNN.

Details

Reports indicate that Russian officials are trying to limit Russian bloggers who are covering the current front line in the Kursk region, likely in response to concerns that the West may pressure Russia to exchange its territory for occupied Ukrainian land.

Several Russian bloggers, who regularly criticize the Russian military's conduct of the war in Ukraine, stated on February 10 and 11 that unnamed individuals are urging Russian authorities to accuse bloggers of discrediting the Russian military after they reported on the recent advances of Ukrainian troops to the southeast of Sudzha.

The bloggers claimed that the Russian military command is pursuing them for publishing information about successful Ukrainian attacks near Cherkasskaya Konopelka and Fanaseevka, with one blogger asserting that recent Ukrainian strikes have forced the Russian military command to postpone plans for a future offensive operation in the area.

Analysts note that the Russian military appears increasingly eager to tighten control over reports concerning the situation in the Kursk region, as Zelensky continues to express intentions to use Russian territory in future peace negotiations.

Reminder

An advisor to the head of the Office of the President reported an increase in the territory controlled by Ukrainian military forces in the direction of Kursk. According to him, this territory may be utilized as a resource for exchanging it for occupied Ukrainian lands.
