Journalists who have reviewed the content presented on Lapin's YouTube channel note that the philosophy of the "military expert" can be succinctly summarized as follows: the government is bad, the military-political leadership is bad, the Ministry of Defense is bad, commanders are bad, Western partners are bad, and only the "wise gray-haired hetman" Poroshenko knows how to solve all of Ukraine's problems. This is reported by writes znaj.ua.
As evidence, journalists cite several video titles posted on Lapin's channel: “Greed or Stupidity. Another Servant of Yermak is Free,” “Don't Change Clowns. Lutsenko: Zelensky and Yermak – Loyalty,” “The Supreme ‘Asphalt Layer’. How Yermak and Servants Ruined the Defense,” “Spoke Out (About Zelensky). There Will Be Vigilante Justice If There Is No Justice,” “How Are You, Shashlychniki? How Zelensky Dealt with Gas. Breeding Fools,” “Bloody Good-for-Nothing (About Zelensky),” “Yermak's Failure,” “This Looks Like Incompetence. Zelensky’s Incompetence is Terrifying,” “I Think So. Zelensky’s Populism Yields Negative Results”...
Journalists also point out the excessively frequent appearances of "military expert" Igor Lapin on television channels and in media controlled by Poroshenko. Typically, no one can easily get on the "gray-haired" channels. To do so, individuals like Lapin must enter the so-called "expert pool," after which they receive a certain financial reward (monthly maintenance or payment for each broadcast/comment). Previously, similar arrangements were made with experts by Medvedchuk's channels.
The authors of the article note that visitors to Lapin's YouTube channel receive political "mud-slinging" of the government, scripted according to the playbooks of Poroshenko's political technologists and “European Solidarity,” instead of an expert assessment of the events of the Russian-Ukrainian war. Under these circumstances, journalists conclude, Igor Lapin can hardly be considered a military expert, at best, he deserves to be quoted.
Criticism of the government, in the opinion of the article's authors, is necessary even during wartime. However, it is extremely important that this criticism be constructive, based on real, not fabricated facts, and in no way contribute to the spread of Russian disinformation and Kremlin propaganda. Indeed, our military-political leadership is not perfect, and our army is also not flawless. No one was born for full-scale war, and thus we have problems everywhere. However, objectively, there have been many achievements over the three years of war: in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the current government.
Igor Lapin, who considers himself a military expert, should likely speak objectively to Ukrainians about everything. But, according to the article's authors, he cannot be objective and rely solely on real facts, as he has to serve the interests of Poroshenko, who actively profited from the war and trade with the temporarily occupied territories during his presidency, as well as entered into capitulatory "Minsk agreements" with Putin.
Journalists believe that due to his politically biased stance, Lapin significantly "assists" Russian propagandists. They don't even need to fabricate discontent among the Ukrainian people regarding Zelensky and the actions of the Ukrainian army. They simply need to cut a segment of Lapin's broadcast and insert it into another Kremlin propaganda product. After this, one must ponder: do we need such "military experts" as Igor Lapin?!
