What is known about the ISS
International Space Station (ISS) - a manned space station in Earth's orbit, established for scientific research in space.
Construction began in 1998 and was carried out in collaboration with aerospace agencies from Russia, the USA, Japan, Canada, Brazil, and the European Union. The station's mass is approximately 450 tons. The ISS orbits Earth at an altitude of about 415 kilometers, completing 15.77 revolutions per day, moving at an average speed of 27,700 km/h, and can be easily seen with the naked eye.
Initially, it was planned for the station to operate in orbit until 2010, but by 2008, another date was mentioned - 2016 or 2020. At the beginning of 2015, there were reports of plans for the station to continue operating until 2024.
