This is reported by RBK-Ukraine referencing Kellogg, as cited by Sky News. This information is also shared by Kontrakty.UA.
On the eve, Kellogg visited a military hospital in Irpin near Kyiv, where he spoke with injured Ukrainian soldiers. The U.S. special representative described his visit to the hospital as "emotional" on his X (Twitter) account.
"This is why President Trump is absolutely right about ending this war. The killings must stop," wrote Keith Kellogg.
According to Sky News, Kellogg's rhetoric sharply contrasted with U.S. President Donald Trump's statements regarding the Russian war against Ukraine.
One of the injured Ukrainian fighters asked Kellogg, "can we trust Russia" during negotiations. Kellogg responded that "all wars end with negotiations, and ultimate victory on the battlefield is achieved through diplomacy, and today's world is no exception."
"Can you trust the people who are with you and be sure that they are with you? It's like asking a deeper question: are you with us? And the answer is: yes, we are with you," stated the U.S. special representative.
Kellogg also mentioned that the goal of any peace agreement with Russia is to prevent a new war in the future.
Conflict between Trump and Zelensky
This week, on February 18, a meeting took place in Saudi Arabia between U.S. and Russian delegations. President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that he would not recognize any negotiations without Ukraine's involvement.
After the meeting in Riyadh, American President Donald Trump claimed that Zelensky's trust rating is allegedly only 4%. However, internal polls indicate that the trust rating for the president among Ukrainians exceeds 50%.
Commenting on Trump's statement, Zelensky urged him not to repeat Russian disinformation.
Later, the U.S. President called Volodymyr Zelensky a "dictator without elections." European leaders expressed their support for the Ukrainian president.
Furthermore, there is an ongoing dispute between the U.S. and Ukraine regarding a minerals agreement. Ukraine is not prepared to accept an agreement that lacks security guarantees from the U.S. As reported by Sky News, Zelensky is not ready to sign an agreement with the U.S. due to "problematic issues."
