Portnikov sharply commented on Ukraine's negotiations with Russia and identified who will be responsible for discussions with Putin.

He also touched on Donald Trump's plan for a ceasefire in Ukraine.
Портников резко высказался о переговорах Украины с РФ и уточнил, кто будет вести переговоры с Путиным.

Direct negotiations between Ukraine and Russia will not take place, as there are no grounds for them. For the aggressor country, Ukraine is not considered a sovereign state, and thus, the war continues with the aim of annexing territory that Russians predominantly view as historically belonging to Russia, alongside the expulsion and destruction of the Ukrainian population. TSN reports. This was stated by Kontrakty.UA.

Famous Ukrainian journalist Vitaliy Portnikov expressed this on his YouTube channel.

"I believe that there will be no negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. There is no framework for such negotiations. There have been no grounds for these negotiations, there are none, and there cannot be any because Russia does not consider Ukraine a sovereign state and is working to annex territory that Russians largely regard as historically part of Russia, along with the expulsion and destruction of the Ukrainian population. Period. There’s no need to fabricate what cannot be," — said Portnikov.

He suggested the possibility of Russian-American negotiations regarding Ukraine, where the fate of our country will be decided.

"And then we will be informed about what they have agreed upon. That is what may happen. And it will not be us setting the framework, but Trump and Putin. We can either agree with it or not, just like our European allies," — the journalist added.

According to him, it is crucial for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump to develop a shared vision for ending Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine.

"To create a common vision that Trump will present to Putin. Although Putin might dismiss that vision if he feels confident enough," — the journalist commented.

He also touched on Donald Trump's plan for a ceasefire in Ukraine, describing it as "logical."

"A ceasefire along the line of demarcation, a peacekeeping contingent, arming Ukraine, if the West does not want it to become a NATO member — this is the framework for such negotiations. Will Russia agree to this? No. Will the West do all this without coordinating with Russia? Unlikely," — noted Portnikov.

Previously, journalist Vitaliy Portnikov pointed out that U.S. President Donald Trump apparently would like a productive meeting with dictator Putin, after which the beginning of the process to end the Russo-Ukrainian war could be announced.
