Portnikov revealed how Trump intends to negotiate with Putin.

Portnikov notes that Donald Trump is not the kind of person who accepts ultimatums.
Портников рассказал, как Трамп собирается вести переговоры с Путиным.

The new U.S. President Donald Trump intends to negotiate with dictator Putin, utilizing the pressure tools established by his predecessor Biden. TSN reports. This information comes from Kontrakty.UA.

This viewpoint was expressed by the well-known Ukrainian journalist Vitaliy Portnikov.

"A positive aspect of Donald Trump's assessment of the situation is that he now believes Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is seeking an agreement to end the war and does not plan to lift the sanctions imposed against the Russian Federation. Thus, Trump intends to negotiate with Putin while retaining all the tools that were created to apply pressure on the Russian dictator," he said.

At the same time, according to Portnikov, the question arises of how willing Putin is to engage in dialogue, as the dictator has long made it clear that he will insist on the conditions set forth in 2022. This refers to the so-called "Istanbul agreements."

However, in the U.S., these conditions are viewed as an ultimatum. And Donald Trump is not the type of person who agrees to ultimatums, the journalist states.

"The key issue is not how much Trump wants to meet with Putin, but how long he will maintain sanctions against the Russian Federation. Much will depend on the new president's willingness to provide assistance to Ukraine," Portnikov adds.

Earlier, it was revealed when negotiations between Ukraine and Trump's team will take place.
