It is noted that recent sociological surveys show a high level of support among Russians for the war against Ukraine until complete capitulation.
At the same time, residents of the Russian Federation are beginning to feel economic losses due to three years of war. This raises doubts about Putin's ability to continue balancing the "products and weapons" approach in the medium and long term.
"Russian President Vladimir Putin currently remains committed to continuing his war in Ukraine, despite increasing internal political and economic pressure. He shows no signs of rethinking his determination to force Ukraine into capitulation," ISW points out.
Russia's Position on the War with Ukraine
In January, Vladimir Putin concocted a new excuse not to negotiate with Ukraine. He cited the existence of an official prohibition from Kyiv on conducting negotiations with the aggressor.
Recently, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that the Russian army will not cease hostilities during peace negotiations.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, in 2025, the aggressor country plans to produce about 3,000 long-range missiles and over 7 million artillery shells and mines.
