The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump aims to receive revenue from natural resources in the regions of Ukraine liberated from Russian occupation. Reports TCN. This information has been shared by Kontakty.UA.
This is outlined in a new draft agreement with the U.S. that has been obtained by the publication The New York Times.
In the event of de-occupation, the share of revenue from resources entering the fund from liberated territories will be 66 percent.
The publication reminded that Russia has occupied about one-fifth of Ukraine's territory, including the resource-rich Donbas.
According to the draft, the Trump administration seeks to obtain revenue from Ukraine's natural resources without any security guarantees in return.
The new document requires Ukraine to fulfill a number of obligations, but still does not outline any specific actions from the U.S. regarding assistance to Ukraine in supporting its military efforts.
At the same time, it states that the United States intends to provide long-term financial commitments to help Ukraine develop economically.
It is noteworthy that the U.S. has proposed a new version of the mineral resources agreement to Ukraine, which turned out to be even stricter than the previous version. The document stipulates that 100% of the ownership of the future fund will be secured for the American side.
