Trump and Putin aim for a ceasefire in Ukraine by Easter or May 9, according to the Financial Times.

U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin are likely aiming to establish a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia by Easter (April 20) or by May 9.
Трамп и Путин стремятся достичь прекращения огня в Украине до Пасхи или 9 мая, сообщает FT.

This is reported by RBK-Ukraine citing Financial Times. It is also mentioned by Kontrakty.UA.

According to the publication, unnamed Western and Ukrainian officials revealed plans from Trump and Putin regarding a ceasefire by April 20 or May 9.

"Putin will want to sign (the agreement - ed.) on such a significant day," a Ukrainian official told FT.

Journalists note that Trump's desire to quickly end the war between Russia and Ukraine has "blinded" Kyiv. Ukrainian officials hoped they could persuade Trump to develop a unified position on involving Russia in negotiations and offered access to rare earth metals.

Andriy Yermak, the head of the President's Office, commented to FT that establishing close ties with Trump's team was "not easy," and acknowledged that "it will take time" before they can build relationships similar to those they had with representatives of Joe Biden's administration.

However, as the publication clarifies, Ukraine and Europe fear that the U.S. may strike an unfavorable deal with Russia.
