Drones equipped with fiber optics have posed a new challenge in warfare, as they are immune to electronic warfare (EW) measures and remain undetectable by drone detectors. However, the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) have claimed to have found a method to counter this type of drone. Reports TSN. This information was shared by Kontrakty.UA.
This was stated by the commander of the 414th Separate Brigade of Unmanned Systems of the UAF, "Madyar Birds," Robert "Madyar" Brovdi.
The brigade commander explained that a mobile radar system has been introduced to detect such drones. These radars, typically used for identifying aircraft and missiles, can effectively utilize a miniature version on the front lines.
Once a drone is detected, Ukrainian pilots engage, flying a drone interceptor to the enemy target to eliminate it.
The commander emphasized the need to urgently scale the experience of his brigade across the entire army.
"The army must promptly and massively upgrade with mobile versions of radars every 2-4 km along the front line and deploy conventional FPV interceptors to destroy enemy FPV drones detected by mobile radar systems," he wrote.
Earlier reports indicated that Russia has begun to utilize new, even more dangerous "Shaheds" to shell Ukraine.
We have previously informed that soldiers of the UAF shared insights about unique weapons that assist on the front lines.
