The decree from the new President of the United States Donald Trump, which suspends support to other countries for three months, will not affect the arms supply programs to Ukraine. Reports TSN. This information is provided by Kontrakty.UA.
This was stated by Voice of America referencing an official Pentagon comment in response to a media inquiry.
"Security assistance to Ukraine is not subject to the restrictions of the recent foreign aid decree, as it pertains only to development programs, not military support," assured the U.S. Department of Defense.
American officials explained that contracts for the production of weapons for Ukraine were established by the Biden administration under a different program – USAI, therefore, Trump's new decree does not apply to them. Decisions made by Biden under the PDA program regarding the supply of weapons from surplus U.S. Army stocks are also unaffected.
The publication notes that it is currently unclear how Trump's decree will impact non-military assistance to Ukraine.
It is worth mentioning that Trump's decree states that "the foreign aid industry and bureaucracy do not serve American interests and, in many cases, contradict American values."
