Following Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy system, emergency power outages were implemented across the country. Initially, industrial consumers and businesses will be affected.
This information was reported by the press service of "Ukrenergo." Energy officials clarified that restrictions for residential consumers are only applied in rare cases (except for emergency situations in regional energy networks).
"The reason for the intensified restrictions is the consequences of Russian attacks on energy facilities…The situation in the energy system may change. Please stay updated by following the messages from the distribution system operators (regional energy companies)," the statement reads.
As a reminder, we previously reported that on February 11, due to a massive missile attack from Russia, emergency power outages were already in effect in Ukraine. After the air raid alert ended and the situation in the energy system stabilized, the restrictions were lifted.
Earlier, we wrote that on Monday, February 17, Russian troops once again attacked Ukraine with strike drones. Air defense systems were active in the regions, and explosions were heard.
