New sanctions against Russia will depend on Moscow's willingness to engage in "good faith" peace negotiations with Ukraine. Reports TCN. This was announced by Kontrakty.UA.
This statement was made on Saturday, February 15, during the Munich Security Conference by the foreign ministers of the G7 countries, as reported by Reuters.
"Any new additional sanctions must be linked to whether the Russian Federation is making real, good faith efforts to definitively end the war against Ukraine, ensuring long-term security and stability for Ukraine as a sovereign, independent nation," the statement reads.
The G7 ministers, including U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, intend to continue their collaborative efforts to achieve a durable peace agreement for Ukraine with reliable security guarantees, so that "the war does not restart."
The G7 includes the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Canada, and Japan.
Recall that President Donald Trump is prepared to double U.S. sanctions against Russia to compel it to end the war in Ukraine.
