The potential conclusion of the war between Russia and Ukraine will be the most challenging agreement in the lifetime of U.S. President Donald Trump. TSN reports. This information comes from Kontrakty.UA.
The publication Foreign Policy discusses this issue.
"The Ukrainian side hopes that Trump will engage in negotiations with Russia. This will make it evident that the Russians are not inclined towards constructive dialogue. This will reduce the action plan to two options - either concede Ukraine, which would create additional problems, or support it until at least Putin exits the political scene," the journalists write.
They remind us that the war has resulted in horrific losses for Russia.
"But Putin is indifferent to the people, and the economy has shown unexpected resilience. A very deep economic crisis in Russia is unlikely to occur in the near future. Putin's main goal remains unchanged - to subjugate Kyiv, turning Ukraine into a de facto Russian colony, as it once was. Any uncertain ceasefire with vague security guarantees for Ukraine from Western partners means that the Russians will simply recover and rearm to attack at the earliest opportunity," the publication notes.
All of this does not resemble a favorable deal, which Donald Trump often boasts about mastering, the publication states.
It is worth noting that U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Keith Kellogg believes it is possible to achieve a ceasefire and lasting peace in Ukraine within months, not years.
Donald Trump has tasked U.S. envoy Keith Kellogg with ending the war in Ukraine within 100 days.
