Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made this statement, as reported by RBK-Ukraine, referencing his interview with the Associated Press. This was also reported by Kontrakty.UA.
"We are fighting, we are living, we are doing everything to bring peace closer. We are closer to this than ever during these three years of war. We have defended our state, independence, country, capital, and many different cities and villages. Unfortunately, we have lost many people. I am very proud of our heroic people. Who could have imagined all this? No one. Who could have known about all these consequences? No one," the president stated.
Zelensky emphasized that "we must do everything" to stabilize life in Ukraine and to ensure peace for all Ukrainians.
"I believe this is the most important thing," he added.
Zelensky on Peace
It is worth noting that recently Volodymyr Zelensky stated that if U.S. President Donald Trump wants to compel Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to achieve peace, he can do it.
In his interview with AP, he pointed out that excluding Ukraine from U.S.-Russia negotiations regarding the end of the war would be "very dangerous." Zelensky mentioned that Kiev and Washington should continue negotiations to develop a ceasefire plan.
