The proposal from French President Emmanuel Macron to send European forces to Ukraine to deter Russian aggression is taking shape, but many questions remain unanswered. TSN reports. This information comes from Kontrakty.UA.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made this statement in an interview with the Associated Press.
According to him, this issue was raised by Emmanuel Macron and Donald Trump.
"I stated in the presence of both leaders that we are interested in this as part of security guarantees, but not as the sole security guarantee," Zelensky said, emphasizing that "this is not enough."
"Imagine there is a contingent. The question is, who is in charge? Who commands? What will they do if there are Russian strikes? Missiles, landings, attacks from the sea, crossing the land border, an offensive. What will they do? What are their powers?" the president added.
Earlier, it was reported that the introduction of Western troops into Ukraine remains highly questionable. Experts note that such an initiative depends on achieving a peaceful settlement with Russia that would allow Ukraine to maintain sovereignty, control over territories, a strong army, and a democratic system. However, Moscow may never agree to such terms.
