More than double: one community plans to drastically increase water supply rates.

In the Kiselev community, located near Chernihiv, a conflict is escalating over water supply tariffs. Local residents are worried that they will soon have to pay 69 hryvnias per cubic meter of water instead of the current 26 hryvnias. There is no sewage system in the community.

According to local resident Sergey Danilenko, the situation worsened after the establishment of the communal enterprise "Blagoustroystvo" in 2024, which immediately began reviewing the tariffs. A private company that previously provided water supply services was removed, and the new municipal enterprise proposed a significant price increase. "Last year, they suggested a tariff of 47-49 hryvnias per cubic meter, but without proper justification. People disagreed. Now we are talking about 69 hryvnias," he commented to "Cheline".

The society includes 15 settlements, and the tariff is set uniformly for all, although the explanations state that it is formed based on various criteria.

Outrage is not only about the tariff

Community residents emphasize that the issue is not just about the cost of water. They believe that the "Blagoustroystvo" enterprise should also address other important issues, rather than raising tariffs first.

Under community pressure, the executive committee has temporarily extended the old tariff of 26 hryvnias per cubic meter until the end of February. However, the people are determined and demand transparent explanations regarding the new water cost calculation.

Previously, "Telegraf" reported that the electricity tariff is fixed until the end of the heating season. After that, it may be changed, and an expert suggested how much we will have to pay.
