How to apply for firewood subsidies and how much funding is available?

In Ukraine, several types of subsidies are offered to support the population. One of these is for the purchase of heating fuel .

As reminded by the Pension Fund, the amount of the subsidy for heating fuel is the difference between the calculated cost based on usage norms with the maximum cost indicators and the mandatory payment amount.

• 382.46 UAH for one cylinder of liquefied gas
• 3824.63 UAH per ton of solid fuel.

In this case, the norm for solid fuel usage is 2 tons per household, while for liquefied gas it is 2 cylinders (for 1-2 people), 3 cylinders (for 3-4 people), and 4 cylinders (for 5 or more people). It is important to know that the subsidy for heating fuel is paid once a year as a single sum. The Ministry of Social Policy reported that the amount may be up to 21,000 UAH and the project continues at least until December 2024 inclusive.

Who is eligible for the heating fuel subsidy

Such assistance is not available to everyone—there is a specific list of regions where people can apply for this help, particularly for those who are eligible for the payment of 21,000 UAH. This includes individuals living within a 10-kilometer zone from the state border with the Russian Federation or from the line of conflict. Overall, residents of the following areas can apply for the heating fuel subsidy:

• Kharkiv
• Donetsk
• Dnipropetrovsk
• Sumy
• Kherson
• Luhansk
• Zaporizhzhia
• Chernihiv
• Mykolaiv region.

To receive a subsidy for firewood or other heating fuel, one must contact the social protection authorities and submit a declaration of income along with an application for the firewood subsidy. Those who have already received assistance but may qualify for additional payments do not need to re-submit documents if they have already provided permission to participate in the international aid program.
