Shelling of Millerovo airfield: which aircraft could be stationed there (photos)

The Russian military airfield Millerovo in the Rostov region, which was attacked by drones, serves as a base for frontline aviation, tasked with supporting Russian infantry operating on the front lines. The 31st Fighter Aviation Regiment, part of the 1st Mixed Aviation Division of the Aerospace Forces of the Russian Federation, is stationed there.

Forbes observer David Ex writes that recent satellite images of the "Millerovo" airbase showed dozens of Su-25 and Su-30 aircraft on the airfield. However, by autumn, only a few Su-25s remained. He noted that this indicates the evacuation of Russian aircraft.

It is equipped with a powerful arsenal – aviation cannons, bombs of various calibers and purposes, guided and unguided "air-to-ground" missiles, as well as "air-to-air" missiles.

According to open sources, until 2009, the 19th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment was stationed at the airfield, which was part of the 51st Air Defense Corps of the 4th Air Force and Air Defense Army.

Over time, the regiment was reformed into the 6969th Airbase as part of the 7th Air Defense Brigade. The airbase was equipped with MiG-29 fighters (from the 19th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment, as well as from the 31st Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment, which was disbanded in Zernograd).

It is important to note that Millerovo is one of the areas from which Russian troops launch strike drones during aerial attacks on Ukraine.

It is worth recalling that the airfield in Millerovo has been targeted before. On February 25, 2022, explosions were reported there. At that time, military aircraft including Su-30SM, Su-25, and helicopters were stationed at the airfield.

As reported by "Telegraph," in July of this year, as a result of the drone attack on the Millerovo military airfield in the Rostov region, facilities were damaged in at least three locations.
