This was reported by Reuters citing three sources familiar with the matter. According to the informants, this "back channel" began operating after U.S. President Donald Trump's victory in the elections on November 5.

However, they are not government officials, and it remains unclear whether they were authorized by their respective governments, two sources indicated. One informant added that at least some of Trump's advisors are aware of these meetings.
