Fico has no plans to resign amid protests but does not rule out the possibility of early elections.

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico announced that he will not resign amid the protests. However, he did not rule out the possibility of holding early elections in the country.
Фіцо не планирует уходить в отставку на фоне протестов, однако не исключает возможности досрочных выборов.

This is reported by RBK-Ukraine, referencing Bloomberg and Dennik N. This information comes from Kontrakty.UA.

The Fico government is facing the threat of losing its parliamentary majority after four coalition deputies refused to vote until their demands are met. Without their support, the ruling coalition can only gather 75 votes, which is insufficient for a majority in a parliament consisting of 150 members.

Fico remarked that "it is not 2018 now," reminding that he resigned as prime minister immediately after mass protests at that time. The large-scale demonstrations were triggered by the murder of journalist Jan Kuciak and his fiancée.

Speaking on state radio, Fico did not rule out early elections if the coalition loses its majority, but stated that it is not the best solution.

"The government can only be changed through elections," declared the Prime Minister of Slovakia.

Fico Accuses Ukraine of Organizing Protests

It is worth noting that the Slovak Prime Minister previously claimed that Ukraine is allegedly involved in anti-government protests in Bratislava and other cities across the country. Furthermore, according to Fico, even citizens of Ukraine are supposedly participating in protests against his government.

Protests in Slovakia began on January 24 after Fico met with dictator Vladimir Putin in Moscow, aiming to resolve the issue of Russian gas transit through Ukraine.
