The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland, Elina Valtonen, urged Western leaders to stop making calls to the Russian dictator Putin. According to TSN. This was reported by Kontrakty.UA.
She made this statement during a broadcast on ARD.
Valtonen stated that European politicians should exercise restraint when it comes to calling the Russian dictator.
"The main thing is that we understand we should not fall into another race for attention in the Kremlin. It won't help if the heads of European states make coordinated or uncoordinated phone calls with Putin," Valtonen said.
The minister noted that a coordinated response is necessary, but not just with the United States, but primarily with Ukraine.
Additionally, she mentioned that during the meeting of foreign ministers on Tuesday, new sanctions against Russia will be discussed, including restrictions on its "shadow fleet".
Recall that it was previously reported that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz justified his call to Putin.
Furthermore, we had earlier informed that Putin perceived Scholz's call as a sign of weakness, not strength.
