The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has proposed the idea of exchanging Kurshchyna for Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine, which Russia could not react to due to its categorical rejection, as it has trapped itself. Reports TSN. This information was shared by Kontrakty.UA.
Andriy Kovalенко, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, shared this with "24 Channel".
"When it comes to territories, Putin finds himself in a trap – even a theoretical exchange (of Kurshchyna – ed.) for, say, some Ukrainian regions is impossible according to Russian constitution, since they consider them 'their territories.' Therefore, they can only claim that they will not do this," said Andriy Kovalенко.
He noted that Ukraine currently holds a stronger position in Kurshchyna, as Ukrainian forces have managed to secure their presence and establish logistics there.
"However, any war drains resources. The one who can hold out longer will emerge victorious. Nevertheless, the Russians have come to terms with the fact that this is a protracted story, as Kurshchyna has disappeared from the information space in Russia," said Andriy Kovalенко.
He emphasized that for Russia, negotiations are only significant with Donald Trump's team, without Ukraine and Europe. This is why Moscow claims the supposed 'illegitimacy' of Zelensky and focuses specifically on negotiations with the USA. For them, Ukraine is not a subject. This is what the Kremlin is betting on.
It is worth noting that on February 12, US President Donald Trump held a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. After that, Trump had discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Later, the American president expressed the opinion that a ceasefire in Ukraine is possible "in the not-too-distant future," and a meeting with dictator Putin could take place in the USA.
