Ukraine is not conducting any behind-the-scenes negotiations with Russia, valuing the trust of its Western partners. Furthermore, no negotiations with the Russians can take place without Ukraine's involvement. Writes TSN. This was reported by Contracts.UA.
In an interview with journalists, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated this.
"Ukraine is not engaged in any behind-the-scenes talks with Russia; this is not in our interest. A loss of trust from our partners is certainly a significant risk for us," he said.
The President noted that there are enough "friends" in the EU who are negotiating and trying to show their commitment to the Russian Federation or balance between Ukraine and Russia. Fortunately, he added, there are not many such countries.
"It is very important for us to maintain the alliance and support from our partners in the EU and NATO. Over these three years, we have managed to build this alliance, without which Ukraine would not have survived, and we have maintained this support to date," Zelensky emphasized, explaining that this is why there are no negotiations with Russia behind our partners' backs.
At the same time, the president stressed that Kyiv will respond decisively if any country conducts such negotiations behind the backs of Ukrainians.
Recall that the President of Poland Andrzej Duda stated that he asked Volodymyr Zelensky for Warsaw's participation in potential negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.
