This was reported by RBK-Ukraine, referencing a statement by the member of the Verkhovna Rada from the ruling party "Servant of the People," Fedor Venislavskyi, on the air of "Radio Liberty." This information is also provided by Kontrakty.UA.
According to him, the mere fact of a temporary ceasefire does not eliminate the threats that led to the introduction of martial law.
"This does not mean that Russia has withdrawn its troops from the temporarily occupied territories or its strike capabilities that can hit Ukraine. Considering Putin's mental state, I believe we can expect any development of events. Therefore, without guarantees that this will lead to lasting peace, I do not think martial law can be lifted," Venislavskyi stated.
He added that the timing for a possible lifting of martial law depends on several factors, including the withdrawal of Russian troops, security guarantees, and the outcomes of international negotiations.
"However, I cannot predict the timeline at this moment. It depends on a whole range of factors: on negotiations and the conditions under which the parties will come to an agreement. I mean Ukraine and the Russian Federation with the involvement of Europe and the United States of America, since without this, as the president stated today, no agreements will be recognized by the Ukrainian authorities," he said.
Ceasefire
It is worth noting that according to the Financial Times, Trump and Putin want to achieve a ceasefire in Ukraine by Easter or May 9. However, no one has officially mentioned these deadlines yet.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says that there is currently no peace plan, as nothing has been agreed upon between Ukraine, the USA, and European partners.
