The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, continues to show his disinterest in meaningful peace negotiations with Ukraine. Reports TCN. This has been announced by Kontrakty.UA.
This is mentioned in the report by analysts from the Institute for the Study of War.
The experts reminded that on January 24, during an interview with Kremlin propagandist Pavel Zarubin, Putin's main emphasis was on conveying to the Russian public that the war will continue. He stressed that Russia is unlikely to participate in peace talks in the near future, and the war in Ukraine is part of a broader conflict between Russia and the West.
"Putin is likely using the interview with Zarubin on Russian state television to signal to the Russian public that Russia is unlikely to engage in peace negotiations anytime soon and that the war is unlikely to end in the near future," the report states.
"This once again demonstrates Putin's unchanging position, promoting the narrative that Ukraine is a puppet of the West and that the conflict is part of a global confrontation between great powers. Furthermore, the Russian president believes that discussions about the war in Ukraine can only be held between the U.S. and Russia, without Ukraine's direct involvement," the analysts added.
It is worth noting that Putin recently stated that Russia is ready to sit at the negotiating table with Ukraine and outlined his conditions. Analysts say that Putin is merely simulating an interest in negotiations.
In response, Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine will in no way offer Russia peace, as this would mean complying with its ultimatum capitulation demands.
Additionally, we previously reported that Putin expects the West to tire of Ukraine and has high hopes for Donald Trump.
