"I constantly observe such (actions of the media, - ed.)... Elon called me and said: 'You know, they are trying to stir up trouble between us.' I replied, 'Absolutely right,'" he stated.
Trump complained that some publications spread the message that he allegedly handed over control of the country to Musk, and also referred to Musk as "president."
"It's so obvious. They are doing it so poorly. I used to think they were good at this. In reality, they are bad at it," Trump said, commenting on the alleged attempts by the media to pit him against Musk.
The U.S. President also expressed confidence that Americans understand the motives of the publications that release such material.
It is worth noting that American billionaire Elon Musk actively supported Donald Trump during the election campaign. He also donated a significant sum to his campaign.
Trump appointed Musk as the head of the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency, and in Trump's administration, Musk was referred to as a special government employee.
According to American media reports, Musk's team cut the U.S. Department of Education's budget by over $900 million.
