In Ukraine, the ban on direct negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin remains in effect. Reports TSN. This was announced by Kontrakty.UA.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated this in an interview with "European Truth".
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed that the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, which prohibits direct negotiations with Putin, is still in force.
"Yes, this decision is still in effect," Sybiha replied to a journalist's question.
When discussing potential initiatives from the newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump regarding ending the war and the possibility of raising the issue of direct negotiations with the Russian authorities, the minister emphasized that Ukraine's position remains firm.
He responded to a clarifying question about how rigid this position is: "As of today, this decision of the NSDC is in effect."
Recall that in October 2022, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky approved the NSDC decision on the impossibility of negotiations with Russia while Putin is its president.
