Elections During Wartime: A Parliament Member Discusses Their Necessity

The topic of elections continues to be a subject of active discussion both within Ukraine and beyond its borders.
Выборы во время войны: депутат рассказал, нужны ли они.

In Ukraine, it is inappropriate to hold elections during martial law, despite pressure from Western partners. Reports TCH. This has been communicated by Kontrakty.UA.

This position was expressed by Oleksandr Korniienko, the first deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada and a member of the "Servant of the People" party, as reported by KYIV24.

According to him, society does not support the idea of conducting elections during wartime, as the current situation in the country, with regular shelling and alerts, makes it impossible to carry out a democratic campaign.

"In such conditions, there is simply no basis to talk about any democratic campaign," he stated.

It is worth noting that the publication Economist, without citing sources, wrote that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is allegedly considering the possibility of holding presidential elections in 2025 amid falling ratings. Through elections, the president supposedly aims to strengthen his authority.
