The President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine wants to clearly understand what support it can expect from the U.S., especially if Washington opposes its NATO membership. According to TSN. This was reported by Kontrakty.UA.
He declared this in an interview with Fox News.
"Without further support from the U.S., it will be difficult for us, which is why I am here. We are discussing future negotiations. Without your support, it will be hard, but we cannot lose our values, our people, we cannot lose our freedom," Zelenskyy emphasized.
He noted that in this war, Russia is the aggressor, as it was the one that initiated the invasion of the neighboring country.
"They came onto our territory. They have killed too many people for us to forget this and refer to Putin as a 'good guy.' No, without us, we do not want that. So we talk about this so that everyone remembers how the war started, how they invaded Ukraine," the president stated.
Zelenskyy stressed that no one wants war in Ukraine, but Ukrainians are not ready to forget everything because "no one wants a new wave of occupation."
"So when we are told 'NATO – no,' what security guarantees can we have? I am not insisting, we are not pressuring, we are simply asking the Americans for a clear answer. If you stay with us, thank you very much. But let’s create an infrastructure of security guarantees. Let’s tell our people that America will remain with us, that would be great, we can count on that," Volodymyr Zelenskyy explained his position.
It is worth noting that, according to media reports, Trump is currently not interested in resuming discussions with Kyiv regarding resource agreements. It is currently unknown whether negotiations will be resumed.
