This is reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing statement from Zaluzhny at the NV event "Ukraine Changes the World. Dialogues on Opportunities." This information is also provided by Kontrakty.UA.
When asked whether he plans to participate in the elections, Zaluzhny stated that the conditions for holding elections are not currently in place.
"To answer this question, let’s first establish the conditions under which such questions would be entirely appropriate. I believe that when these conditions arise, then I, as a person who is in public service and works directly for the state, will be ready to address such questions," he declared.
Zaluzhny added that for Ukrainians, the primary task is to endure and preserve the state.
"Only after that will we think about other matters," said the Ukrainian ambassador to the United Kingdom.
Recall that according to a survey by the charitable organization "Future Research Fund" conducted in October 2024, among the current military-political leadership of the country, the highest trust rating is held by former Chief of the Armed Forces Valeriy Zaluzhny, Head of the GUR Kyrylo Budanov, and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
According to the survey results, Zaluzhny's trust balance was +59%.
Elections in Ukraine
Earlier, U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine and Russia Keith Kellogg stated that the U.S. wants elections in Ukraine to be held once a ceasefire is established.
On the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he is ready to discuss elections in Ukraine. However, according to him, Ukrainians do not want elections as long as martial law is in effect.
It is important to note that under Ukrainian law, elections are prohibited during the period of martial law. According to surveys, the majority of Ukrainians are against holding elections during the war.
