European intelligence has acquired information regarding a factory in China that may produce military drones for Russia. As a result, the European Union is prepared to implement sanctions against China. Reports TSN. This information is also reported by Kontakty.UA.

This is stated in an article by Politico.

"We received reports from intelligence sources about the existence of a drone manufacturing facility in China that supplies to Russia," said a source from the publication.

Additionally, three unnamed diplomats indicated that the production of drones in China will be a key item on the agenda for the EU foreign ministers' meeting next week.

It is worth noting that the U.S. Department of the Treasury has imposed sanctions on three legal entities and one individual, including those from China. They are involved in the production of the long-range strike drones known as "Garpia."

The "Garpia" drone is produced in Chinese factories in collaboration with Russian defense companies. Its design involved Chinese specialists. "Garpia" has already been used to strike critical infrastructure in Ukraine, resulting in "mass casualties" — details on this were not specified by the Treasury.

China-Russia Cooperation

In April of this year, the U.S. warned allies that China has intensified its support for Russia in its war against Ukraine. Beijing is also providing the Kremlin with geospatial intelligence, as well as microelectronics and tank equipment.

Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, China has never supported Ukraine. Beijing has backed Russia and condemned the sanctions imposed against it by the West due to its military aggression. Overall trade between China and Russia reached a record high last year — $218 billion over the first 11 months of 2023.
