The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky declined a proposal from a U.S. Congressional delegation to sign a memorandum that would allow the States to receive 50% of all future mineral reserves in Ukraine. TSN reports. This was reported by Kontrakty.UA.

This information was shared by political analyst from The Washington Post Josh Rogin, citing American congress members who participated in the Munich conference.

"Zelensky politely refused to sign this," Rogin noted.

Later, the journalist clarified that Ukraine seemingly did not sign the agreement because "in exchange for access to resources, it received no security guarantees."

Currently, the President's Office has not commented on this information.

Zelensky and U.S. Vice President Jay D. Vance also discussed a deal regarding minerals at the conference, but their meeting concluded without any details being disclosed.

Recall that U.S. President Donald Trump stated on February 3 that he wants to negotiate an agreement with Ukraine that would ensure U.S. access to rare earth minerals used in electronics.

"We are looking to make a deal with Ukraine, whereby they will provide what we give them, with their rare earth elements and other things," Trump said.

Subsequently, Zelensky stated that Ukraine is open to negotiating an agreement with the U.S. regarding access to rare earth minerals and requires security guarantees from allies as part of any resolution.
