Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made this statement in response to a question from a correspondent of RBK-Ukraine during the Munich Security Conference. This was reported by Kontrakty.UA.
"It is clear that we need this. But it is also evident that negotiations (editor's note) will happen, although they are not yet in place. However, in the future, they are essential. We must do everything possible to bring a fair and lasting peace to Ukraine. The most important thing is that it is lasting. Because we can celebrate for a week, two weeks, a month, maybe three years, maybe five. We do not want a return to war," Zelensky emphasized.
Regarding progress in the peace settlement process of the war, Zelensky stated that, compared to recent months, there has been progress, in his opinion, and it continues. The Ukrainian team and Trump's team have started to collaborate.
"Where have we progressed? We have made strides in terms of, if we look at where we were a few months ago, I believe we have started working with Trump's team much more. We have had meetings, we had a G7 meeting at the level of foreign ministers. There were meetings with Kellogg, and as you know, we have the Vice President. The teams have begun to work. There are checkpoints, which is important, as we are making some progress," the head of state informed.
Recall that during this same conversation with the press, Zelensky stated that, in his opinion, Ukraine should decide who should be at the negotiation table during the war settlement. This was, in turn, a response from the president to the words of Trump's special representative for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, who stated a few hours ago that he does not see Europe "physically" at the negotiation table.
