President Volodymyr Zelensky made this statement, as reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing his remarks at a press conference. This information is also reported by Kontrakty.UA.
Zelensky emphasized that all decisions regarding the war must take into account the opinions of Ukrainians who are directly confronting the aggressor. He noted that only a small portion of society supports concessions to Russia, and there is a lack of faith in agreements with the Kremlin.
According to him, it is important to understand that the Ukrainian people who are fighting do not support any concessions to the aggressor. Zelensky highlighted that "only 1% of the population supports making concessions to Russia." He stressed that the situation cannot be viewed as one that can be resolved solely through documents or agreements, as he pointed out, "no one in Ukraine trusts Putin."
The president also stated that during the visit of U.S. Special Envoy Keith Kellogg to Ukraine, he should personally engage with people to understand the true sentiment in the country.
"It is important for me that he walks around Kyiv and other cities, talks to people. Let him ask whether they trust their president, whether they believe Putin, what they think about Trump's statements," Zelensky explained.
He also mentioned plans to visit the front lines with Kellogg so that he could speak with Ukrainian soldiers.
"We will go and let him ask the soldiers: are they ready to urgently vote to go home, give everything to Russia, and have no security guarantees? Let him talk to the people who live and fight here," the president emphasized.
According to him, the main task is to allow Kellogg to see for himself what the situation in Ukraine is like. "If he has the desire, he will get it," Zelensky concluded.
Recall that Zelensky stated that over three years of war, Ukraine has spent 320 billion dollars on armaments, while the U.S. has provided weapons worth 67 billion dollars.
