This information comes from RBK-Ukraine citing a statement by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi. Reports have also emerged from Kontrakty.UA.
The Commander noted that he has inspected the Pokrovsk front line, where the enemy is concentrating its main efforts and conducting active offensive operations. During his visit to the command posts, Syrskyi listened to brigade commanders regarding the specifics of combat operations, their challenges, and took all necessary measures to address these issues.
He also emphasized the special attention given to the 155th Separate Mechanized Brigade.
"It is worth noting that the brigade is gradually acquiring the defined combat capabilities. All negative aspects and difficulties encountered during its deployment in Ukraine have been analyzed, and conclusions have been drawn that will be taken into account during the further training of military personnel," the Commander reported.
Syrskyi also expressed gratitude to international partners, particularly France, which was the first country to respond to the request to establish a mechanized brigade and fulfilled all its commitments regarding the training and equipping of the aforementioned military unit.
Scandal with the 155th Separate Mechanized Brigade
Recall that earlier, a scandal erupted online involving the soldiers of the 155th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Anna Kyivska. Reports indicated inadequate formation and supply of the newly established 155th brigade, as well as mass desertions and instances of AWOL, particularly during training in France.
In light of these reports, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, instructed to strengthen the 155th brigade. The Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mikhail Drapaty, has taken personal control of the situation. He noted that he is looking for new commanders, and despite the inadequate formation, the brigade has occupied a section of the front line.
This week, it became known about the detention of the former commander of the 155th brigade, Dmitry Ryumshin.
The investigation emphasizes that during his command, the voluntary departure of soldiers from the unit became widespread. In particular, 56 servicemen of the brigade voluntarily left training grounds in France.
