According to the publication, unnamed Western and Ukrainian officials revealed plans by Trump and Putin to establish a ceasefire by April 20 or May 9.
"Putin would want to sign (the agreement - ed.) on such a significant day," a Ukrainian official told FT.
Journalists note that Trump's desire to swiftly end the war between Russia and Ukraine has "blinded" Kyiv. Ukrainian officials had hoped to persuade Trump to develop a unified stance on involving Russia in negotiations and offered access to rare earth metals.
Andriy Yermak, head of the President's Office, commented to FT that establishing close ties with Trump's team was "not easy," admitting that "it will take time" before they can build relationships similar to those they had with representatives of Joe Biden's administration.
However, as the publication clarifies, Ukraine and Europe are concerned that the U.S. might reach an unfavorable agreement with Russia.
