As noted by the publication, an advisor to the Trump administration stated that too much has been invested in efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement to abandon it now. According to the source, instead, the U.S. will likely increase pressure on Ukraine and avoid direct contacts with Zelensky.
Analysts suggest that the dispute between presidents Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump "could have consequences." This might involve an audit of the American aid provided to Ukraine up to this point, or similar actions, although this does not necessarily rule out any negotiations.
However, within Trump's team, there are also more radical views. Another source close to the Trump administration told Bloomberg that the Biden presidency has supposedly "spoiled Zelensky's expectations" that the American people would continue to fund the war.
The publication adds that Europe will collectively attempt to "pick up the pieces" after the dispute in the Oval Office. One European official told Bloomberg that "Trump has decided to sell Ukraine." Several other European officials described the failure in the Oval Office as a trap.
