This is reported by RBK-Ukraine, referencing a statement from Scholz as quoted by Spiegel. The information comes from Kontrakty.UA.
He reiterated his refusal to supply Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine. Scholz stated that it would be "the wrong decision" to provide weapons capable of reaching deep into Russian territory.
According to the German Chancellor, Trump would support his decision regarding Taurus.
"If I understand correctly, this would be assessed similarly, for example, in transatlantic cooperation in the future. At least, that's how I understood President Trump in his recent interviews," Scholz said.
It is worth noting that previously, Donald Trump criticized the current US administration's decision to allow Ukraine to strike deep into Russia with long-range missiles. He suggested the possibility of revoking the corresponding permission.
Removal of Restrictions on Missile Use
In the fall, the US officially permitted Ukraine to strike with ATACMS missiles at military targets within Russia. Additionally, restrictions on the use of long-range Storm Shadow/SCALP missiles were lifted for Ukraine.
The Ukrainian defense forces have already carried out several strikes using Western missiles.
Meanwhile, Germany opposes supplying Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine. Chancellor Olaf Scholz explains this by stating that such a decision could allegedly lead to escalation.
