This is reported by RBK-Ukraine referencing media interviews after arriving at the "Andrews" joint base before boarding Air Force One.
The President believes that the Ukrainian leader does not resemble someone who desires peace.
"I want an immediate ceasefire; he (Zelensky) wants to continue fighting. Without us - he won't win," and he reiterated several times that a ceasefire could be achieved right away.
According to Trump, for negotiations with the U.S. to resume, Zelensky must express his desire for peace.
"He needs to want peace. He shouldn't say negative things about Putin," said the head of the White House.
Zelensky's Visit to Washington and Noteworthy Negotiations
On Friday, February 28, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky commenced an official visit to Washington.
After meeting with a group of senators, the head of state arrived at the White House for discussions with American counterpart Donald Trump.
During a press briefing, a dispute arose between the leaders regarding the prospects of ending the war in Ukraine.
Trump stated that Ukraine is unable to win the war, that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are running out of soldiers, and that Kyiv should cease fire. U.S. Vice President Jay D. Vance accused former President Joe Biden of unwillingness to end the war.
Additionally, the U.S. President wants to end the war and threatened to reduce arms supplies to Ukraine.
Trump required Zelensky to sign a peace agreement with Russia, or else the U.S. would "withdraw from the processes." However, Zelensky remarked that this is very complicated and not as straightforward as it seems, given that Putin has never honored any signed agreements in practice.
Subsequently, the Ukrainian president left the White House prematurely. The agreement on the control of rare earth resources was not signed.
According to media reports, the U.S. may halt all military assistance to Ukraine.
