This is reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing statement from Zaluzhny at the NV event "Ukraine Changes the World. Dialogues on Opportunities". According to Kontrakty.UA, this information has been shared.
When asked whether he plans to participate in the elections, Zaluzhny mentioned that the conditions for holding elections are currently absent.
"To answer this question, let's first establish the conditions under which such questions would be entirely appropriate. I believe that once these conditions are met, I, as a person serving in the government and working directly for the state, will be ready to respond to such inquiries," he stated.
Zaluzhny added that for Ukrainians, the primary task is to endure and preserve the state.
"And only after that will we consider other matters," said the Ukrainian ambassador to the United Kingdom.
It is worth noting that according to a survey conducted by the charitable organization "Future Research Fund" in October 2024, among the current military-political leadership of the country, the highest trust rating belongs to former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Valerii Zaluzhny, Head of the GUR Kyrylo Budanov, and President Volodymyr Zelensky.
According to the survey results, Zaluzhny's balance of trust and distrust stood at +59%.
Elections in Ukraine
Earlier, the U.S. special representative for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, stated that the U.S. desires to hold elections in Ukraine once a ceasefire is established.
At the Munich Security Conference, President Volodymyr Zelensky mentioned that he is ready to discuss elections in Ukraine. However, he noted that Ukrainians do not want elections to be held while martial law is in effect.
It should be recalled that according to Ukrainian legislation, elections are prohibited during the period of martial law. Survey data shows that the majority of Ukrainians oppose holding elections during the war.
