This is reported by RBK-Ukraine referencing his speech at the main session of the Munich Security Conference. This information comes from Kontrakty.UA.

He emphasized that his current focus is on the survival of the country amidst the war. Zelensky mentioned that half of his presidential term was marked by the coronavirus pandemic, while the other half has been dominated by a full-scale war.

"I am open to discussing elections. Ukrainians absolutely do not want elections, fearing that we will lose the state of martial law if elections are held, that soldiers will return home, and Putin will occupy the entire territory. Right now, we are in a state of mobilization, we are a united organism, a single country, and it is crucial for this to continue," - said Zelensky.

The head of state added that "the issue is not about him, but about the future of our country."

"Currently, the focus is on survival, saving Ukraine and our people. And if someone doesn't like it, they can choose another citizenship, especially if they have property abroad," - stated the president.

Elections During Wartime

Ukrainian legislation prohibits the holding of elections during wartime. This restriction is outlined in the Law of Ukraine "On the Legal Regime of Martial Law." To conduct elections in Ukraine, the martial law regime must be lifted.

It is worth noting that parliamentary elections were scheduled to take place in Ukraine in October 2023. Additionally, presidential elections were planned for 2024, set for the end of March.

Recently, President Volodymyr Zelensky commented on the issue of elections in Ukraine. He stated that the position of all those arriving in Ukraine regarding this matter is changing.
